Students Participate in BEcamp Entrepreneurship Summit

Last weekend, four 12th-grade students, Gigi '26, Adam '26, Kannie '26, and J'Nyla '26, took part in a summit with BEcamp founder and educator Mike McQuillan in order to learn about business, economics, and entrepreneurship.
CSW is partnering with BEcamp for the first time this year to deliver a business basics course to our 10th grade students during their time in PACE, and to help support 12th graders who are engaging in capstone projects that have a business focus, from starting a non-profit to widen access to opportunities to play club-level volleyball to writing, publishing, and selling a book of personal poems.

As Adam, Gigi, Kannie, and J'Nyla grow and develop their capstones over the course of this year, they will continue their work with BEcamp and will have the added bonus of being able to consult with Mike for guidance and advice.

During Mike's time with these students last weekend, they reviewed basic business principles, learned about marketing and finance, and got a chance to brainstorm ideas about their capstones with each other.

Mike's background and education in business and his own entrepreneurship journey made for an "engaging" workshop and "taught me the concepts in a way that stuck" said J'Nyla who is looking to start her own business selling handmade crocheted products.

We look forward to our continued partnership with Mike and BEcamp and can't wait to see how these students' capstones unfold!
