Our Values

Our History

Leading with Purpose since 1886

The Cambridge School of Weston has had a wonderful and rich history since our founding in 1886. The school began in Cambridge with close ties to Radcliffe College as The Cambridge School for Girls. In 1931, it moved to the former 25-acre Trapelo estate in Weston, Massachusetts — where it remains today — and from thenceforth became known as The Cambridge School of Weston.

The school has since evolved into the leading high school for progressive education in the United States.
CSW—a gender-inclusive day and boarding school for grades 9-12—is a national leader in progressive education. We live out our values of inquiry-based learning, student agency, and embracing diverse perspectives in every aspect of our student experience. Young people come to CSW to learn how to learn and then put what they learn into action—essential skills they carry into their futures as doers, makers, innovators, leaders, and exceptional humans who do meaningful work in the world.
